Powder dosing accuracy considerations
Dosing accuracy is not only a machine-control question. Bulk density variation, product settling, screw selection, hopper level and operator process can all change the real filled weight.
A useful specification sets out target weight, acceptable tolerance, expected output and the product behaviour. This helps decide whether auger dosing, weighing or combined control should be considered.
| Specification detail | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Bulk density | Changes the relationship between volume and final filled weight. |
| Target tolerance | Determines whether additional weighing or checkweighing may be needed. |
| Hopper level | Can affect dosing if product compacts or flows differently as the hopper empties. |
| Pack opening | Limits nozzle design and can affect dose speed. |
